How to Become Public Notary?
Introduction: To become a public notary as profession is highly demanding. Before one can choose this as profession, he/she know some basic requirements/eligibility criteria to become public notarized. Below will discuss about the educational qualifications/work experience, pr any other criteria –
Educational qualifications require like –
- To become a notary public, does not demand any formal or specific academical degree. Yet, anyone having an associate degree or certificate, may meet professional advancement much faster than the others.
- If someone wants to become a notary public through some legal platform, that applicant should hold either three years or five years long LLB degree.
Working experience –
Work experience to become public notarized require,
- Applicant should have an experience of minimum ten years in law field as an advocate – this is applicable to general professionals. Whereas, the reserved category applicants should be experienced for seven years.
- Having educational degree as discussed above, the applicant should have applied for an advocate post to any of the bar council in state – this will be considered as length experience and simultaneously years of practice is also required.
- Suppose the applicant is not a legal practitioner, in that case, he/she has to have a membership of any country level legal services, or be experienced with ten years of any judicial services.
- Candidate having an office under the central or state government, department of the judge or giving services to armed forces of advocate-general, can apply for public notary post.
Also, need to know different types of notarial acts –
Acknowledgements – necessary for document of valuable assets like deeds, mortgages.
Jurats – To ensure the truth of the documents, the signer has to sign a jurat.
Oath and affirmation – The verbal oath or affirmation is also very important to prove the truthfulness of a client.
Copy certification – are required by documents like diploma, driving license, medical records, bills of sales. A copy certification is required to confirm the originality of any document.
Conclusion: Choosing public notarized as profession is not very difficult. If someone can match the above eligibility, is most welcome in this profession.
